Teal Rug
For decor that consists of browns, grays or black, a teal rug can provide a tasteful contrast. Taking on a shade that is a combination of blue and green, this color is increasingly popular in many types of decor. It is particularly attractive with shades of brown, tan and other more neutral colors. It may also work well with smaller red accents in a room and some objects or pieces of art including this interesting blue green tone.
In the living room, teal curtains and many other window treatments and draperies are available with prints or designs that include this color. Used with a comfortable teal area rug in the seating area and a few accents, such as a vase, throw pillows or art, it brings a room with more neutral shades to life. In the bedroom, this color can be found in many bedding and sheet sets. It can be a large rug situated next to the bed, or a small shag accent rug in the middle of the room, which brings out the color in bedding and curtains. Some homes use this color on a few accent walls, so coordinating them with a matching teal rug unifies the decor.
Teal area rugs do not cost any more than other desirable or unusual colors. They can come in a variety of materials, such as wool, woven cotton, polypropylene, and some natural fibers. Polypropylene rugs are probably the easiest to clean. Teal rugs made of wool are also absorbent and can help floors retain warmth in the winter. Teal rugs made of natural fibers are very durable and often made of sustainable materials such as bamboo.
This color works with many types of decor, whether traditional or more contemporary. More classic home decor often consists of print fabrics, which will include this color with other darker colors, like brown, plum and navy. It can also be found in prints with softer colors like rose and pale greens.
For homes with more contemporary decor, it is common for rooms to have a more monotone look, with respect to color. While this is attractive, it helps to break up the monotone theme with some items of a brighter shade. This color can do this, while looking very sophisticated. A round rug helps to break up the straight, clean lines of contemporary furniture designs. There are also products in typical rectangular shapes, as well as those of an oval or even a half moon shape, for a more unique design statement.
