Wool Rug

Rugs have the ability to add beauty and style to your home decor, and wool rugs are a great choice for enhancing the look of your home. Although there is a multitude of fibers to choose from, these rugs contain 100 percent natural fibers, and wool has many benefits over synthetic fibers. Cotton, polyester and other man-made fibers will not provide the longevity that wool area rugs will, and they are not a good choice for high traffic areas since these lower quality fibers tend to crush down very quickly and easily. Because of this, synthetic area rugs constantly have to be replaced.

This is a non-issue with a wool rug since they are virtually resistant to crushing. This is the case no matter how high the traffic. These rugs offer much more in terms of longevity because they are so durable.

Synthetic rugs are also difficult to vacuum. Much of the dirt and lint is embedded in the rug, and many find that they have to bend down and pick out dirt from the rug in order to thoroughly clean it. In addition, the latex backing that many of these rugs have made it impossible for the rug to breathe. Because of this, synthetic rugs are susceptible to mold and mildew. This is especially true for rugs placed in areas that hold moisture, such as bathrooms. Latex rug backings are also responsible for damaging many floors.

Wool is also better at resisting stains. Wool area rugs contain natural oils, which come from the fleece of the animal. These oils help to naturally ward off stains, and makes for easier cleaning of the stains that do occur. Wool also tends to repel moisture, which means that there is a very small chance that there will be mold, mildew or fungus on your rugs.

As most of us know, wool is formed from the coat of animals, typically sheep’s and goats. This wool is designed to keep the animals both dry and warm, and will regulate according to the temperature. Sheep wool is especially great since it will always maintain its shape, is ultra soft, very durable and resistant against wrinkles.

The wool is also breathable, has the ability to pull water into it so that it never feels damp. When you purchase a wool rug, you are purchasing high quality. Yes, you will pay slightly more in advance, but you will get so much more in return. You are saving in the long run as well.

A wool rug should be considered a great investment. They are beautiful, offer longevity and can add much beauty and style to your home.
